The final race of the year for the team will be the Tour of Vail this Sunday. 2012 USA CRITS Championship Final.
Vail, Co – Team SmartStop/Mountain Khakis Pro Cycling will close out the 2012 season this Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Vail Colorado. The inaugural Tour of Vail serves as this year’s exciting conclusion to the 2012 USA CRITS Championship Series. It’s an excellent venue for such a prestigious series final and we hope our guys can bring home both the Series Team and Individual championships. Both titles are still not decided and we are expecting to have to battle for them. Luke will line up in Vail as the leader in the Individual Series with a 114 point lead over a determined Oscar Clark (United Healthcare of Georgia p/b The 706 Project). The two riders have fought for the lead in the series all year and you can expect it to be fought out the entire race.
In the team competition Team SmartStop/Mountain Khakis leads the CRCA Foundation team by 235 points. Not an insurmountable difference and we expect this to be a fight as well. The battle ground will be an interesting 1 Km circuit on the cobbled streets of downtown Vail. One other interesting combatant and one we have absolutely no control over will be the altitude. Vail’s average elevation is 8,150 feet it will not take much for the guys to put themselves in trouble. It will be a factor but we are sending a prepared squad whose fitness and tactical experience should see them prevail. The men take to the streets at 5:15 PM.
