Spring 2017 is approaching faster than we can imagine! See below for an update from Jen Taylor – head honcho on all things Marketing/ Creative/ PR here at MK.
Postcard from the open road! Arrived at Orange County airport Saturday at 12:04pm, picked up by Shane Pacillo the Marketing & PR Director for Moto Guzzi USA. Eye candy galore in their western US distributor HQ- the Piaggo Group includes Moto Guzzi as well as Aprilia & Vespa. The showroom & garage were filled with Italian beasts. Some vintage, mostly new, and a small fleet of top secret “those you can’t get on camera” police bikes. I geared-up myself & the bike, left the streets of Costa Mesa & navigated the insanity of LA traffic & freeways, and headed north on Hwy 395 toward the western edge of Death Valley and the eastern edge of the Sierras. Rode into the evening and stopped for the night in the quintissential camp town of Lone Pine, at the base of Mt Whitney (the 2nd highest peak in the contiguous US). Woke this morning to the most epic vista of the Sierra range! Geared up and rode the Whitney Portal road, up to the base of the mtn and basecamp for PCT hikers. Breakfast with the through-hikers, hearing their conversations (“I just can’t wear these same clothes anymore….”) and the best eggs & bacon I’ve ever had was an experience I’ll never forget! Now, sitting in a gas station parking lot happy to be in the shade (94′ at 10:39am), ready to hit the open road again. It would be a 5 hour ride with no stops, but will be getting off course all day- this begins the beautiful stretch. Yosemite, Mono Lake, and coffee with our laydown photographer (Lesley Allen) in Bishop in a few hours. And lots of bugs. Arriving in Truckee sometime tonight. All for now! JT
