RECAP: Kappa Alpha Order Philanthropy Event

CIMG1358 First off, I would like to thank Mountain Khakis very much for their support! The event was very successful and we are extremely please with how it turned out.

On November 30th Kappa Alpha Order the Delta Psi Chapter at Appalachian State University. Held our annual philanthropy event. Our Philanthropy is the Muscular Dystrophy Association, they partner with other non-profits like Make A Wish Foundation, working with children who have fatal diseases and give them opportunities to experience and do things they would not normally have the opportunity to do. Our event was held at the campus movie theater and was showing of the movie Darius Goes West, a movie bbout a boy from Athens Georgia who has Muscular Dystrophy. He travels with a group of friends across the United States to Los Angles to spread awareness of the fatal disease.

We also had a silent auction with over thirty-five items for sale. Mountain Khakis was a great supporter of our silent auction sending two seventy-five dollar gift cards as well as a pair of pants for a display.

We raised over $2,000 that included the ticket sales as well as the silent auction and had over 250 people attend and bid on items. This was more both for the amount of people as well as the money we hoped to raise. 100% of the money went straight to MDA and we plan to present the check to the MDA this January and have it in the local newspaper as well as the KA Journal our fraternity magazine. Mountain Khakis will be credited in both articles for being a sponsor of our event.
