Twice a year in the spring and fall, a group of men from the Charleston, SC area embark on a 4 day, 3 night hiking trip in Pisgah National Forest. This fall was no exception. I was fortunate enough to lead the men up and down steep mountains, over water crossings and through technical trails. Our trip covered about 30 miles over the four days. This year we climbed to the summit of Tennent Mountain, an elevation of over 6,000 feet, where the view was absolutely breathtaking. Other highlights included running into a thunderstorm on our third night (rain always makes things more interesting!) and having to put our food in bear bags. Each trip always is exciting, challenging and a truly rewarding experience. I’d like to thank Mountain Khaki for their awesome gear. A few of us sported the Granite Creek shorts or convertible pants. I can’t wait for the Spring 2013 trip!
