Hook, Line, & Drinker Festival

This year was an exciting time for us here in Western North Carolina as we welcomed the 1st Annual Hook, Line, & Drinker Festival. The guide staff at Fontana Guides had the opportunity to set up a vendor tent and be a part of this festival as we showcased our fishing guide services and enjoyed all the festivities this awesome new festival had to offer. Thanks to Mountain Khakis, we also had some awesome giveaways for the festival attendees. The MK koozies were flying out of the tent to keep the drinks cold on a hot day!

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Hook, Line and Drinker Festival was held from noon to 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 20 at the Bridge Park Pavilion in Sylva, N.C. This was the perfect location for this event as there was plenty of room for everyone, a large stage front & center for the bands to perform, and trout fishing waters all around us.

We welcomed seventeen different fishing and clean water vendors, three food trucks, ten craft beer vendors, and two different bands that performed live music throughout the festival. This free event was held in celebration of Jackson County, North Carolina, the home of the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail and the N.C. Trout Capital. Attendees also registered for the inaugural Scotts Creek Cleanup Day to be held on Sept. 9, 2017. This will be a great effort and initiative to keep our rivers and fisheries clean.

All in all, the festival was a huge success! We can’t wait for next year’s festival date to be announced. With fishing, craft beer, live music, and great food there is something for everyone to enjoy! And don’t forget, some of the best trout fishing water in the region is less than five minutes away!
