As the summer is wrapping up here in Idaho and students are coming back to the Palouse its our time to transition. After a summer full of river trips with students its time to put our feet back on land. Incoming students at the University of Idaho are asked to volunteer their time to a local organization. This year I lead twenty-four new UI students in a trail build day on our local mountain bike trails. The UI Outdoor Program partnered with the local cycling club MAMBA and SYNC program run through the Center for Volunteerism and Social Action. It was a great way for students to get oriented with their surroundings while being outside and giving back to their new community. Now that we are through our first week of classes things will slow down briefly before we ramp up for fall programming. Hiking, biking and more…it should be a great fall.
